Once the Met Police Headquarters and home to the first police supercomputer, the modern interiors at Tintagel House are full of 1960s design references and carefully restored original details. Renovated by TOG’s design team alongside Universal Design Studio and Stanton Williams architects, the building’s rich history has been given a new lease of life.
Tall and slim, with extensive river views on one side and an uncluttered, low-rise vista on the other, Tintagel House has some of the best natural light in the TOG platform. Expansive windows and stairwells let light in to fill the space. Alongside TOG’s award winning in-house design team, Tintagel involved not one but two global design studios. Stanton Williams led the architectural refit while Universal Design Studio (founded by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby) led the interior design.
Making the most of its riverside location, Tintagel has a garden that runs right up to the Thames, a top floor balcony offering expansive city views and stretches the full length of the building, and a carefully planted roof garden that includes seating and work areas.
Tintagel House’s foyer is a triple height space with real impact, blending a lounge, work space, a café, and incubator studios into one terrazzo-clad expanse. It’s a communal area where TOG members can come together and exchange ideas or just catch up. Throughout the building you’ll find focus booths and breakout spaces with OPO guided mediation for quiet moments.
